Gathered at over 12,000 ft above sea level and sorted almost entirely by hand, alpaca fibers are some of the softest and most durable natural fibers that exist. Of the 6,000 tons of alpaca fiber produced in the world annually, only 1.5% or 90 tons of that fiber is deemed fine enough to be classified as ‘Royal’ with over 80% of the alpaca fiber produced in the world coming from the Andean regions of Peru.

The term ‘Royal’ originates from the almost exclusive historical use of the fiber in the royal garb of the South American nobility. Second only to Vicuna, Royal baby alpaca is truly one of the rarest fibers in the world. The scarcity of the fiber limits the number of products that can be produced each year making each piece something special to be kept for years. We are lucky enough to offer a limited number of pieces each year in this beautiful fiber including the Dimma throw and the Pluma throw.
